The
proper time and setting for the practice of Yoga postures
is as equally important as the proper attitude, method
and technique.
one's immediate surroundings (a small room), broader
context (in a country where justice is properly administered)
and intentionality and inner state (free from all anxieties)
are all matters of concern when when establishing the
most appropriate conditions for practice. One should,
therefore, give serious consideration to the place where
Yoga practice will be done. Is this spot private, free
from distractions and disturbances? Can you return to
it whenever you choose to practice Yoga? Is it associated
with any negative aspects of your life?
The
time of practice is equally important. Early morning
around the time of sunrise, and early evening, around
sunset, are traditionally spoken of as the most significant
times for Yoga practice. If this is not possible then
choose a time before your day's activities begin and,
if possible, some time in the early evening. Regardless
of when you choose to practice be consistent. The
benefits of Yoga practice are enhanced when both the
time and place of practice is consistent
.
